About Joel Rowe

Dr. Joel Rowe joined the UF Health EM/EMS faculty in September of 2018, but he is by no means new to Gainesville. Dr. Rowe completed both his EM Residency (2011-2014) and EMS Fellowship (2014-2015) at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He was recruited to a private, community EM practice in Dallas, Texas, where he served in multiple leadership and director roles within the Emergency Department and at the hospital level. In 2018, when the unique opportunity to teach, advance and innovate within the discipline of prehospital medicine arose, he returned to UF to work with a dedicated and talented group of EM and EMS physicians.

Currently, Dr. Rowe serves as Co-Medical Director of the Lake County EMS system and as Medical Director for Gilchrist County Fire Rescue. He is active in local, state and national EMS and EM organizations, is involved in the UF EMS Fellowship, and contributes to UF EMS development and outreach. He is passionate about building the prehospital medicine knowledge base by addressing practitioner-identified problems of practice through community engagement, collaboration and clinical service integration.
