Shadowing Request Form

To begin the process, the requesting shadower must first attain a faculty sponsor. Applicants may do this by reviewing the faculty page, selecting a faculty that best suits their interests, and emailing them at the contact information provided. If a faculty is available to sponsor you, they will reply with their acceptance and scheduling availability. Once a faculty sponsor is attained, it is the responsibility of the requesting shadower to complete all forms listed within the Shadowing Checklist and upload files. Once all files have been received, the coordinator will process them through to the College of Medicine.

Please wait to submit your documentation until you have confirmed a faculty sponsor. Because of the varying nature of shifts within the Emergency Departments, not all faculty are able to accommodate a student shadow. Please don’t be discouraged, and know that there are plenty of faculty within the department willing to sponsor you. We encourage you to reach out to more than one faculty if you don’t receive a response. Please be patient as faculty may not respond for 48 hours.

Due to the evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Florida College of Medicine will only accept students from U.S institutions. UF has paused international student shadowing through UF COM at this time to best protect the patients, faculty, and staff. We are monitoring the current conditions and are aiming to resume in-person rotations when it is safe to do so. Please continue to check for updates regarding the 2022 cycle.
