The UF Department of Emergency Medicine operates an extracorporeal cardiopulmonary resuscitation (ECPR) program for out-of-hospital cardiac arrest patients, in close multi-disciplinary collaboration.
For patients meeting the criteria, the ECPR team implements emergent cannulation and initiation of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Patients are then being cared for in the intensive care unit by the Extracorporeal Resuscitation Service (ERS) as the admitting service.
To find out more about the ECPR and ERS programs, contact the Director, Dr. Torben Becker, or the Associate Director of ECPR & ERS, Dr. John Bruno.
