The UF Department of Emergency Medicine was proud to host the 4th Annual SonoSmackdown, continuing to advance undergraduate medical education in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) across Florida.
Medical students from institutions statewide joined us for a structured day of competition, collaboration, and hands-on instruction under the mentorship of UF Emergency Medicine faculty leaders in point-of-care ultrasound.
Through direct faculty observation, real-time feedback, and clinically grounded teaching, participants refined image acquisition skills, strengthened diagnostic integration, and gained practical insight directly applicable to patient care. The event emphasizes not only preparation for national competitions, but also the cultivation of sound clinical reasoning and technical proficiency essential to high-quality bedside practice.
