Photo Gallery: PGY1 residents take it to the next level

On Thursday, Emergency Medicine PGY1 residents underwent their biannual simulation evaluations. The simulation lab environment provides a forum to evaluate, coach, and help residents achieve the “next level” in patient care, according to Associate Residency Program Director, Dr. Lars Beattie.

“The PGY1 heavily emphasize ACLS, ATLS, and PALS protocols of resuscitation, so that they are ready for the sickest patients that are brought into the Emergency Department,” said Beattie.

The photo gallery below includes residents performing the following procedures: defibrillation, intubation, and peri-cardiocentesis.
