Emergency Medicine Residency application process for the University of Florida at Gainesville
HOW TO APPLY
- We are only accepting applications through ERAS. We are not taking any applications outside of the Match. All application materials must be received by November 1, 2008.
- We will be accepting 8 residents for the class of 2012. Because of the volume of well-qualified applications, not all applicants can be offered an interview.
- Applicants for this program must have an M.D. or a D.O. degree. We will accept COMLEX scores for D.O. applicants. USMLE is strongly recommended but not required for D.O. applicants.
- U.S. M.D. degree candidates must have passed Step I of the USMLE and be scheduled to take Step II.
- Foreign medical graduates must have a valid ECFMG certificate prior to beginning of training. Only the J-1 Visa will be sponsored for the residency. Two years of clinical experience in the US is required as well as proof of passing USMLE Step I, II and III.
- International Resident Observerships and Externships are not offered by the UF Dept of Emergency Medicine.
- Letters of reference in the SLOR format should include at least one from an Emergency Medicine physician.
- The content of applications will not be discussed by phone or email. Inquires limited to the status of applications can be sent via email.
- Interviews will be offered to qualified applicants, based on the strength of the total application. Earlier applications have the benefit of being reviewed sooner.
- Interviews will be conducted on Fridays in November, December, and January.
