Residency Program
Here at the University of Florida’s flagship campus in Gainesville, we have experienced remarkable growth of our department. In less than a decade, we have grown from a division within another department to an independent academic department staffed with a talented faculty, who excel as educators, researchers, and clinicians. This rapid growth included the establishment of our residency program in Emergency Medicine, with our first class beginning residency training in July 2006.

Residents in the Trauma Bay Residents at NASA Training
Our department’s growth continues each day, and the emergency medicine residency is a major part of this growth. We will have a full complement of residents beginning in July 2008. Our residents have contributed immensely to developing an outstanding clinical and educational environment. Our residents have unparalleled resources available within the residency program, from online textbooks and educational tools to a state of the art computerized documentation, ordering, and tracking system. We are expanding our faculty to keep pace with our department’s growth, and a new emergency department is under construction. Once completed, the new facilities will virtually double our patient care capabilities.
We are committed to provide the finest experience possible in emergency medicine training, comprised of an excellent clinical experience and an interactive didactic curriculum. We are developing numerous opportunities for our residents in other interests, including research, academics, international emergency medicine, EMS, and critical care. We are exceptionally proud of our residents, and invite you to become part of our growth.
