Clerkship
Our clerkship at the University of Florida in Gainesville is a mandatory fourth year clerkship. Students will see an undifferentiated patient population, meaning you are to see patients as acuity dictates and you will never be barred from seeing any patients. You are actively involved in trauma alerts, septic workups, pediatric resuscitations, stroke alerts, chest pain work ups, etc. The curriculum for our required clerkship was created to provide students with knowledge and experiences in areas of medical education no other rotation was able to provide. These include emergency airway management, trauma management, acute chest and abdominal pain work ups, toxicology and environmental medicine. Please review our clerkship curriculum for more information.
For the months of July and August we offer Emergency Medicine Career Track. While fulfilling UF students’ requirements for a 4 week clerkship in Emergency Medicine, this course is geared toward students considering Emergency Medicine as a career. During Career Track the Clerkship Director and Program Director meet with you personally and discuss your career goals, review your application and discuss your interviewing skills. Special sessions for students also include history of Emergency Medicine, career opportunities, practice types, resource availability for students, and more.
Medical Students attend a suture lab.
Please contact Beth Magyari with any questions or concerns about the Medical Student Rotations.
