This is a course where our Department of Emergency Medicine EMS personnel lead participants in an extrication training with Alachua County Fire Rescue. EMS personnel have extensive experience in the use of heavy equipment and extricating patients from motor vehicles involved in accidents and other circumstances where their lives are in danger. This course demonstrates safety during an extrication, the appropriate equipment to use, the appropriate gear, as well as patient care with the use of live simulations. Our EMS Fellows learn to use extrication tools and actively cut cars during this training. It is typically a very hot day, but a lot of fun!
