Required 4th Year Clerkship

Prerequisies

The 4th year UF Medical Student must have interest in pursuing residency     training in Emergency Medicine. Students need to demonstrate appropriate clinical skills by successfully completing the 3rd year core clerkships (including IM, Surgery, OB/Gyn, Pediatrics). It is not necessary to complete an EMrotation prior to this course.

Orientation

On your first day of the Clerkship, Med Students should report to the Emergency Medicine Offices in the 1329 building, on the fourth floor. You will be contacted by email for confirmation. Orientation will include expectations and rules, a tour of both Emergency Departments at Shands UF and assignment of clinical schedules. An overview of patient flow, from triage to disposition, will be discussed, as will the respective functional aspects of each department (ie, how to get things done!).
