Karen Laauwe, MD, FACEP
Dr. Laauwe has been an Emergency Medicine physician for almost 20 years. She did her EM residency at Texas Tech in El Paso, Texas and from there she went on to work in Las Vegas, Nevada. During her time in Las Vegas, she worked with the Clark county EMS system as a member of the Medical Advisory Board and as the Director of Medical Education. She was also the Medical Director for the Nevada-1 DMAT as well as for a rural EMS service in Amargosa Valley, Nevada.
Dr. Laauwe moved to Gainesville in 2002 where she worked in the Emergency Department at Alachua General Hospital until its closing in 2008. She then transitioned to the University of Florida Department of Emergency Medicine and most recently to the UF Health Shands Emergency Center – Springhill.
In her free time, she enjoys reading, swimming and spending time with her family.
